Change is in the air
I've been struggling with whether or not to post this for fear I curse myself. But I also have a small problem keeping my mouth shut when I am excited/nervous/worrying myself sick about something. So here goes. We made an offer on a house last night. And, I might just have myself a new job. It feels we have been kind of stuck in a rut as of late and some major change is much needed.I am so fearful this will not work out , I've never wanted-no,scratch that- NEEDED change so bad in all my life. So if someone is looking out for me, which I happen to believe they are, this will all work itself out. And if it doesn't, this lesson may not crush me, but it will break me down.
and just because I can, a sweet photo of my favorite little tree hugger

my favorite place to buy fabric......
This may come as no surprise but my absolute favorite place to buy fabric is my local Goodwill. I almost never leave disappointed. If only I could sew as fast as I buy...you won't tell my husband will you? wink wink
here are my latest finds
The two florals are heavy duty canvas like material
the pink and green animal is cotton, the navy dots is rayon I think and the white is faux fur for making monsters
I also got a a nice little picnic basket and a cool red patterned tin goblet. Why all these goblets keep ending up in my basket is beyond me. Seems I have no self control. Sadly, no aprons today. One less thing to explain to my very patient husband I guess.

oddly enough.......fact #1
You know how people send about those little games....you know the ones, five things you didn't know about me, things that may surprise you to know, blah blah, blah, tag you're it, let the whole world know how odd you are sorta games? Or they have a theme day on their blog...self portrait day, check out my breakfast day,(OK, I made that one up but you get the idea) Well, this is sorta like that, except I'm not tagging anyone, and I'm not picking a day, I'm just randomly sharing an odd little fact with you because..um because.....well truthfully I don't really know why. Because I'm odd like that I guess. But secretly you know you are too. So here goes. Odd fact #1.
I hate feet. I hate when people touch my feet, i hate touching other peoples feet, I hate looking at other peoples feet. I think feet are probably the most disgusting part of the body. When I see an old lady in sandals, with her course knotty toes on display for the whole world to see, I shudder. This is probably not so unusual, i suppose it might be considered rather common to have an aversion to feet. However, one of my favorite things to take pictures of is......gasp....... feet. And after giving L the camera for an afternoon it seems she feels the same . A mutual mother daughter feet aversion/fascination.So I share with you what I've never dared share before... a small part of my feet collection. Maybe I'll start a flickr group.

little green jeans
ok so really they are blue, with polka dots, because I adore polka dots. but the blue polka dot fabric is from my latest thrift score, and the jeans were ready for the rag bag because the bottoms were so ragged and stained. one more outfit for the already out of control summer wardrobe for L. really, it's shameful the amount of clothes my child has ....
I justify it with the fact that it's a recycled wardrobe rather than one bought from Walmart. (OK, some of it came from that evil place, shame on me and my lack of self control.)

5 years
it doesn't seem possible that I've been a mom for 5 whole years, seems I just blinked and here she is all ready to walk away from me and go join her friends in doing whatever it is that 5 year olds do......my little miss independent, I can do it on my own, you don't have to snuggle me anymore mommy, too grown up for her own good, little girl. Sigh............
It began as the perfect day. Shoe shopping, a new journal and some scented markers for L, hot pretzels, a mini carousel ride. Then on to the paint your own pottery studio, followed by a visit to our favorite ice cream shop after which we laid on our backs at the park and watched the clouds.
L learned how to use the camera, took her first self portrait and we strolled through the streets downtown taking pictures and climbing about and exploring whatever shops caught her fancy.
Then things turned sour. The car died in the middle of a turn lane, Fortunately we got it up and running again, but it will have to be looked at. L's best friends called to say they couldn't make it to the birthday barbecue after all, and L was heartbroken. I burned the brats and the corn was basically inedible. L got in a food fight with her cousin. Everyone got crabby. Then the worst thing happened.. L fell off the stool climbing down from the trampoline and hurt her arm. Bad. M is two states away for work and barely able to handle the fact that he had to miss her birthday, couple that with L getting hurt and him not being able to be there for her makes one miserable Daddy. After a trip to the ER it was determined that she fractured her left distal radius ( fancy doctor talk for broken) and will need to spend the next six weeks in a cast.Goodbye swim lessons, possibly soccer too. The new basketball hoop and rope swing she got for her birthday are all but useless right now. What a way to celebrate turning 5. poo!
At least she's excited about getting her cast and decorating it........ I have a feeling this will bother me more than it will her. As soon as she got her splint on she asked to take a walk thruogh the ER so she could visit the other patients so she could "feel them better". What a trooper. She makes my heart melt. Happy birthday my little ladybug.
